Cleveland-Cliffs Steel is seeking a Process Control Engineer for our Riverdale operation in Riverdale, Illinois.
As a Process Control Engineer, you will be part of a team supporting applications and infrastructure, automation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis critical to the operations.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and thrive in a fast-paced work environment with complex operations.
Summary of ResponsibilitiesWorking directly with a large variety of computers, instrumentation, and related automation equipment.
Maintenance and problem solving of all aspects of the automation system.
Modifications to the automation system to adapt to product changes in raw materials, environmental requirements, or to implement new ideas for continuous improvement to the manufacturing process.
Addressing issues that may impact production or system reliability.
Administering and configuration of Operating Systems and Databases including virtual systems.
Working with networking technologies, high speed data transmission, specialty interfaces, and video systems.
Development, implementation, and maintenance of computer models for mill processes.
Assignments on new installation or modernization projects with participation in activities such as planning, engineering design, field devices, hardware configuration, software design, development and testing and new system start-up.
Supporting a 7 24 operation which will require responding to occasional off-hour calls.
Writing periodic status reports and presenting project updates to peers, other departments, and management.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another related discipline from an accredited college or university or combination of education / experience2 years' experience in Process Automation and/or an IT fieldStrong software programming skills in at least 1 high-level language (C, C++, C#, or Fortran preferred)Demonstrated skills in organization, prioritization, time management, and decision-making.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred QualificationsFive (5) years of experience and a bachelor's degree in an engineering/computer-related field, such as Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
Familiarity with SQL, SQL Scripting, SQL Report Builder, Microsoft SQL Server/Access, or Sybase.
Familiarity with web design development & maintenance utilizing ASPX, WPF, PHP, MVC 5, BLAZOR, RAZOR, AJAX or similar methods.
Experience with networking equipment, network communication components & computer hardware troubleshooting.
VM server deployment and management.
